“Add to cart” is perfect when people buy several products. But many customers come for one product: a gift, a refill, a single item from an ad. For them, the cart is an extra step. A Buy now button takes them straight to checkout.
Who it is for
- Stores where most orders contain one product.
- Traffic from ads or social media, landing directly on a product.
- Gifts, digital products, single services, refills.
Add to cart and Buy now together
Keep both buttons. Add to cart for those who continue shopping, Buy now for those who are ready. Make Buy now visually distinct (darker or your brand color) and put it right next to Add to cart.
Two behaviours
- Add and go: the product is added to the existing cart, then checkout opens. Safe default.
- Buy only this: the cart is emptied first, so checkout contains only this product. Useful for single-product stores or services.
Set it up without code
- Install Peekly.
- In WooCommerce › Quick view, enable Buy now on product pages (and in the quick view window).
- Choose the button text and color, and whether to empty the cart first.
For variable products, Buy now waits until the customer has chosen the options, exactly like Add to cart. See it on the demo.
Make checkout worth the shortcut
A direct checkout only helps if checkout itself is quick: guest checkout, few fields and express payments. See how to make checkout faster.
