Installation

  1. Download faqly-faq-schema.zip from My account › My plugins or from your order email. Do not unzip it.
  2. In WordPress, go to Plugins › Add New Plugin › Upload Plugin, choose the zip and click Install Now, then Activate.
  3. Insert the "FAQ" block in a page, or paste the shortcode shown in the FAQ editor.
  4. Adjust the default look in FAQs › Settings.

Requires WordPress 6.0+, PHP 7.4+. Works with any theme, block themes and page builders.

Features

  • FAQ editor: add, reorder and remove questions, group them in sections (Shipping, Payment…)
  • Answers with links, bold text and lists
  • Three styles: cards, minimal lines, bordered box; plus / minus or chevron icon; your accent color
  • Open the first question, none or all by default; optional "one answer at a time"
  • Live search box that filters questions as you type (accents ignored)
  • "Expand all / Collapse all" button
  • Direct links to a question (example.com/page/#faq-how-long-is-delivery) open it automatically
  • FAQPage structured data (JSON-LD) generated automatically for the questions shown on the page, merged into one block when several FAQs are on the same page
  • Built on native details / summary elements: works without JavaScript, keyboard and screen-reader friendly, respects reduced motion
  • "FAQ" Gutenberg block with live preview, and `[faqly id="12"]` shortcode for any page builder
  • Lightweight: assets load only on pages that show a FAQ, no jQuery, no external service, no tracking
  • Translation-ready

Shortcodes

Paste a shortcode in any page, post, widget or page builder text block.

  • [faqly]

Options of each shortcode are described in the Features above and in the plugin settings page.

For developers

Customize the plugin from your theme’s functions.php or a small plugin, without editing its files (your changes survive updates).

Filters

  • faqly_schema
add_filter( 'faqly_schema', function ( $value ) {
	// Change $value here.
	return $value;
}, 10, 1 );

Updates

Updates are free. When a new version is out, it appears in Dashboard › Updates of your WordPress site and you can install it in one click, or turn on automatic updates in Plugins. This works for the zip downloaded from your Woo-Plugins account; older copies can be replaced by downloading the latest version from My plugins. See the changelog.

Frequently asked questions

Will my FAQ appear as rich results in Google?

Faqly adds valid FAQPage structured data. Search engines decide when to display rich results; Google currently shows FAQ rich results mainly for well-known government and health websites. The structured data still describes your content clearly to search engines.

I already use an SEO plugin that adds FAQ schema.

Turn off structured data in FAQs › Settings to avoid duplicates.

Shortcode options

`[faqly id="12" style="cards|minimal|bordered" search="1" open="first|none|all" single="0" schema="0" title="Frequently asked questions"]`

Can developers change the structured data?

Yes, with the `faqly_schema` filter.
