Visitors from abroad hesitate when they have to convert prices in their head. You do not need a full multi-currency setup to help them.
Display only vs real multi-currency
Real multi-currency means payments, refunds and accounting in several currencies. A display converter only shows approximate prices: much simpler, and enough for most small stores.
Use your own rates
Enter the rates yourself and update them once a month; nothing is sent to an external service.
Be honest about the payment
Mark converted prices as approximate (≈) and say in the cart that the customer pays in euros. Their bank converts the final amount.
Keep the checkout exact
Show the real amount charged at checkout to avoid surprises.
Currly works this way. See the demo and our selling abroad checklist.
Frequently asked questions
Do customers pay in their currency?
With a display converter, no: they pay in your currency.
How often should I update rates?
Monthly is enough for approximate prices.
Should the checkout be converted?
Better not: show the real amount charged.
