Testimonials are among the most persuasive content on a website, yet most businesses have very few. The reason is simple: they do not ask, or they ask in a way that makes it hard to answer. Here is how to ask at the right moment, with templates you can copy.

When to ask

Avoid asking before the client has seen the result, or months later when the experience is forgotten.

Make it easy

  1. One link to a short form, usable on a phone.
  2. Two or three guiding questions instead of a blank box.
  3. An option to record a short video for those who prefer talking.
  4. A consent checkbox for publication.

Questions that produce good testimonials

Templates

Email after a project

“Hi Sarah, thank you again for trusting us with your kitchen renovation. If you are happy with the result, would you share a few words about your experience? It takes two minutes: [link]. It really helps other clients choose us. Thank you!”

Short message (SMS or WhatsApp)

“Thanks for your visit today! If you have 30 seconds, a quick review would help us a lot: [link]”

Online store, after delivery

“Your order arrived a few days ago – how do you like it? Tell us in one minute: [link]. Your feedback helps other customers and helps us improve.”

Follow up once

If there is no answer after a week, one friendly reminder is fine. Do not insist beyond that.

Turn answers into great quotes

Pick the most specific sentence, put it in bold, and keep the full text below. Ask permission if you shorten a testimonial. Add the client’s first name, role or city and photo. Then place each testimonial next to the page it supports, see how to display testimonials.

Collect continuously

Put a QR code on invoices or counters (see QR codes for reviews) and add the link to your email signature. With PraiseWall, testimonials arrive through your own collection page and wait for your approval before appearing on your testimonial wall.

Frequently asked questions

How many testimonials do I need?

Start with three to five good ones and keep collecting continuously.

Can I edit a testimonial?

Correct typos, but ask permission before shortening or changing the meaning.

Should I ask unhappy clients?

Ask everyone. Negative feedback is valuable, and asking everyone keeps your testimonials honest.
