A team page shows the people behind a business. A dedicated plugin keeps profiles consistent and easy to update. Here is what to look for.
1. Useful profile fields
Photo, role, specialties, short bio, email, phone, booking link, website and social links. A booking link per person is especially valuable for clinics, salons and consultants.
2. Full profile in a popup
Cards stay compact while a click opens the full profile. The popup should be accessible: keyboard navigation, Escape to close, focus returned to the card.
3. Layouts
A grid of cards with 1 to 6 columns, a list and a compact view cover most needs.

Departments or groups (reception, doctors, sales) let you show part of the team on a specific page.
5. Photo handling
Portrait, square or round photos, and initials on a coloured background when there is no photo, so the grid stays tidy.

Free or premium?
Free team plugins usually cover a basic grid with photo, name and role. Premium options add popups with full profiles, groups, booking links and better accessibility. If your team page is a key page for your business (clinic, law firm, agency, salon), these extras are worth it, because visitors often choose a person before they choose a company.
Test before you decide
- Add three real profiles, one without a photo.
- Check the grid on a phone and on a large screen.
- Open a profile with the keyboard only, then close it with Escape.
- Run the page through PageSpeed Insights.
- Insert the team in a page builder with the shortcode.
