A Christmas table, a decorated living room, a gift basket under the tree: festive photos make people want the whole scene. A shoppable image lets them click each product in the photo and buy it directly. It is the shortest path from “I love this” to “Add to cart”.
Scenes that work
- The Christmas table: plates, glasses, candles, linen.
- The cosy corner: throw, cushion, mug, book, candle.
- The gift pile: one photo per budget (“under 30 €”).
- The outfit: party look with accessories.
- The workspace: notebook, pen, lamp, plant for the colleague gift.
Shoot it simply
Natural light, a warm background, 4 to 8 products per photo, and space between them so the hotspots are easy to tap on a phone. A phone camera is enough.
Add the hotspots
Each product gets a small dot. On tap, a card shows the name, price and an add to cart button. Spotly lets you place dots by clicking on the image in the editor and links them to WooCommerce products (demo). See also shoppable images and lookbooks.
Where to use the lookbook
- At the top of your gift guide.
- On your home page during December.
- In a blog post: “How to set a Christmas table”.
- Link it from Instagram: the same photo, now shoppable.
Tips
- Keep products in stock: remove hotspots for sold-out items.
- Add a short caption with the total price of the scene.
- Check the dots on a small phone screen.
Turn one photo into several pieces of content
The same Christmas scene can be your home page banner, a blog post (“5 ideas for a cosy Christmas corner”), an Instagram post, and the header of your newsletter. Only the hotspots need to stay on your site, where people can buy.
Accessibility
Each hotspot should be reachable with the keyboard and have a text label, and the image needs an alternative text describing the scene. It helps all visitors and search engines.
How to measure the result
Compare the same weeks before and after the change in WooCommerce › Analytics: conversion rate (orders divided by visits in your statistics tool), average order value and the share of mobile orders. Change one thing at a time when you can, and give each change at least a week of traffic before judging it. In December, compare with the first half of November rather than with last year, because your catalogue and traffic have changed.
