Selling ebooks, plugins, courses or templates to European customers raises a common question: can they download the file and then ask for a refund?
The general rule
Online purchases come with a 14-day right of withdrawal.
The exception for digital content
For digital content not supplied on a physical medium, the right ends when delivery starts, if the customer expressly asked for immediate access and acknowledged losing the right.
How to collect it
- A separate checkbox, not hidden in the terms.
- Shown only when the cart holds digital products.
- Confirmed in the order email.
Mention it in your terms
Explain the rule in your terms and on product pages. This article is general information, not legal advice: check the rules for your country.
Agreely shows the waiver box only for digital products and saves it on the order. See also checkout checkboxes.
